This Privacy Policy describes how the Media Downloader Chrome extension ("extension", "we", "our") handles information when you use the extension.

The extension helps users download media from supported social platforms after a direct user action (for example, clicking a Download button in the popup or on-page control).

2. Data we process

To provide this functionality, the extension may process:

• Active tab URL and page title (only when user triggers download flow).
• User-pasted media URL in the popup.
• Media-related links detected from supported pages for download resolution.
• Local extension settings (for example, preferred language) stored in browser storage.

3. How data is used

• Resolve a valid downloadable media URL for the user-requested content.
• Start browser-native file download through Chrome download APIs.
• Show status messages in the extension UI.
• Remember non-sensitive local preferences (such as UI language).

4. Data sharing and third-party processing

To resolve media links, the extension may send user-requested media URLs to external processing endpoints and may access third-party content delivery domains referenced by supported platforms. This network processing is used only to provide download functionality.

We do not sell user data. We do not use extension data for advertising personalization.

5. Data storage and retention

• Local settings are stored in your browser using chrome.storage.
• The extension does not intentionally collect sensitive personal data such as passwords, payment cards, or health information.
• Downloaded files are stored by Chrome in your configured download location.

6. Permissions used

• downloads: save files after user action.
• storage: save local preferences.
• scripting: run packaged scripts on supported pages to resolve media links.
• tabs: access active tab URL/title when user requests download.
• <all_urls> host access: verify and process media links across different domains/CDNs used by supported platforms.

7. Security

We aim to minimize processed data and limit processing to what is required for extension functionality. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we strive to use reasonable safeguards.

8. Children's privacy

This extension is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
